Nevada Veterans Legislative Symposia – Final Report

Veterans from across the state gathered for three Nevada Veterans Legislative Symposia held in Elko, Reno, and Las Vegas. The events drew strong participation and provided veterans with the opportunity to share concerns and select priorities for legislative consideration.

The symposium in Elko marked the first time the event was held in the region and was hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, drawing strong participation from local veterans. In Reno, the event was also held in a new location, hosted for the first time at Truckee Meadows Community College, further expanding outreach to northern Nevada veterans.

In Las Vegas, the symposium took place at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System auditorium and included participation from state lawmakers, including Assemblymembers Reuben D’Silva, Daniele Monroe-Moreno, Erica Mosca, and Howard Watts.

The symposia were held in partnership with the United Veterans Legislative Council (UVLC)and included presentations from the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau, which provided an overview of how legislation is developed and how veterans can stay informed and become engaged in the legislative process.

NDVS has now completed and released the final symposium report, which compiles attendee feedback, identified issues, and priority topics voiced by participants from the three events. The report reflects the collective voices and concerns of Nevada’s veteran community and will help guide future discussions and policy consideration impacting veterans across the state.

Together, these symposia strengthened collaboration between veterans, advocates, and policymakers, ensuring the voices of Nevada’s veterans are heard.
